This took me a while since I had never heard of it. You need to include songs for the geriatric generation -- those I know! Nonetheless, it was a fun puzzle and thank goodness for Google.

I guess I am among the oh-so-lucky demographic who remembers this one well.
Good luck, fellow Muggles!

Dino me, but only with the help of Google. This musical number clearly never made it to Australia!
Check out "The MOAT MEOW Mashup Pack" here. US$10 for 14 metas that don't always abide by the "rules" of the game: asymmetry, 2-letter words, uncrossed letters, who knows. And this time there's a mega-meta!

Ha and I thought I was in "the geriatric generation" yet I knew it.

Dino me please! I tried to make it harder but when I returned to it after a while the answer popped out, or rather AN answer popped out and I believe I got lucky. If you are old enough there may well be two earworms going on right now. More about that when the puzzle is over, for now I will rest on my dinosauric laurels (both the DIno part and the fact that I am probably now officially a dinosaur cause I'm an early Boomer).
Thanks for a fun puzzle Will

NUDGES!I am always willing to give nudges where needed; metas should be about fun, not frustration. Send me what you have done so far because often you are closer than you think!

Nice one Will. College-era ear worm for me, brought a stupidly big grin to my face when I suddenly saw the answer

A fun puzzle (as PBWMC's always are!) Count me in the too-young-to-know-this-one generation, but luckily I remembered it from a recent-ish NYT puzzle that put me on the right trail. I'm sad the season is coming to a close, but of course am excited to see what Will has in store for the season finale next week!

Made that way harder than I needed to. Fun! And I know the song.

I had to use Google. However, I do know two musical numbers with a similar mechanism, one by Glenn Miller, the other by the Marvelettes.

Yes. It's now corrected. I was doing it on my phone. I need either a bigger keypad or smaller thumbs.boharr wrote: βWed Dec 08, 2021 11:46 amYou mean Marvelettes?Bird Lives wrote: βWed Dec 08, 2021 10:14 am I had to use Google. (Un-nested the quotes because apparently it won't show more than 3 levels)
Me too (give or take a year)! According to the interwebs this song was huge when I was in 6th grade, but I would have sworn up and down it was at least a year earlier, so now I'm questioning my entire childhood... Still, enjoyed the puzzle!

If any of you fellow xers are tik tok watchers (I thank/blame my kids) there is a hysterical GenXer on there @corrbette - who does the "Gen-X Update". Recommend. YMMV
