Finally got posted onto Patreon. I broke my internal rule and actually submitted without full solve. #9. Will be a lot of solvers for this one.

I was very tempted to submit before finishing the grid, but held out. :)

Me too, but doing so with a streak of 7 is less risky than with a streak of 205!

I'm pretty upset at this Joshua Kosman character. I had guessed the meta answer from the title/prompt on xwordcontest before receiving the puzzle email. I looked at one theme answer to confirm and then submitted without filling a square.

My puzzle arrived at 12:12 and I submitted at 12:12. 2nd place. Argh!!!!

On shore...hope no pageant

Oops...meant to say beamed up. Too happy about getting the "Buzzer Beater" achievement to think straight.

After two frustrating weeks where the challenges were too much and the time to devote on them was too short it's nice to be on the board again.

If you're doing "no instructions"...the instructions will help. :) My first thought upon grid completion was someone seen frequently on TV. Glad I waited to submit, although I accidentally hit ENTER halfway through typing and was worried I'd take a zero on a big fat gimmee...

Haha, admire the aggressiveness. For those who don't recognize the name, Joshua Kosman is one of the best cryptic constructors out there. He used to set them for the Nation but now is on Patreon as Out of Left Field with his co-setter. If you are a cryptic lover and don't subscribe to his Patreon (cryptics sent every Thursday morning), get moving!

Took my time, completed the grid, made a pithy comment on the submission form....nice way to enjoy a week 1.

Solved, submitted.

Knew the answer, created the Excel spreadsheet of the puzzle (NOT needed), took two phone calls, then submitted the answer before entering a letter in the grid, but after reading three or four (obvious) Theme Entry clues.

Beamed. 2 minutes after Meg and Old Judge. Tried to make it harder than it was . . . for about 5 minutes.

I didn’t dare submit until I had ink in every grid square, although I had the answer long before. I’m brave enough to solve in ink, but petrified of submitting a hurried incorrect answer!

How long before Matt adds a "Solved without Directions," "Solved with Down Clues Only," etc., achievement medals?
