I tried Googling it "after the fact" with what I had decided were the "generalizations" from which I had earlier decided I wanted it boiled down from. Turns out that it made a huge difference whether I used "phrase", "quote", "idiom", or "aphorism" with my other terms. Three were useless. One brought up the meta answer as the first option. :-)
But with what keywords? That's what would have gotten me.
Well, dang! I'm trying to stay out of spoiler jail!
Boo.

On the plus side I got the cryptic 100%.

I think I'm there...maybe one foot in the surf and one in the sand.

Still with Isaac with two mechanisms and a title that are driving me crazy. ha ha

Update: on shore with help from Woozy (thanks again!). I am not familiar with the answer but it's a good puzzle. Not submitting for the mug.

Hope everyone has a safe and productive week.

EDIT: Never mind. Got confirmation of my answer. Thanks for the help Wendy Walker!

This is a very different type of puzzle. Even though most are getting it easily, I don't think anyone would claim it is "easy". And, I don't think "When you get it, you will know". When you get it it will be "Wow, that was really strange and different. It feels like cheating. I could be wrong .... but my answer would be so funny and it does fit.... Maybe it is right, if it isn't right, it should be right because it's so clever..... yeah,.... that'd be too much of a coincidence; it's probably right".
Funny story. I was all set to enter Par for the course for the CrossHare midi contest for April but I mistakenly thought midi meant 7x 7 and not 11 x 11. Oops. Well.... Here's a complex but **small** meta on the subject of golf.

Reading people's inner thoughts as they arrive at what they think is the solution, I would love to match those up after the answer is revealed to see whether some of the weirder inner thoughts were about a solution that was not what was intended.

I am the queen of typos but just want to make sure you are looking for a 7 WORD phrase.
Yes - I'm in the queen's court...I meant 7 words

Finally looked up the Burma Shave signs. I don’t remember seeing them. But I grew up in Palo Alto and maybe they weren’t around there. I may also be a little too young. Sounds like fun though!

Made it ashore under the wire! Had all the pieces but needed a small nudge to put them together. Happy holidays all!

Never made it ashore. Drifted around wondering about it all as I put up holiday decorations. Looking forward to see the solution when I wake up in the am.

Late to the party though I solved last night. I hope there’s still room on the beach 🏖

With this puzzle I’m pleased to report
I’m ashore at the Muggles’ Resort

Busy people, you may know ‘em
Always time to write a poem

Work, investing, HSA
Lots of decisions in just a few day

Brain cells burning up apace
However please save my space

Now insurance wants to know
Just how much premium I will forego

Year end is a time of cheer
Busyness though without peer

Thought I’d stop in for a call
Happy holidays to y’all!

Ending another bloody weekend asea. Donned a life vest, plunged into the drink, and have spotted a shore. Hail Mary. I need a Tiki Bar.
