MGWCC #704 — Friday, November 26th, 2021 — “Ghostwriter” by Terry Fridman

GUEST CONSTRUCTOR PUZZLE:

Today’s guest puzzle is by Terry Fridman. I really don’t know much about Terry, except that I thought this debut puzzle was exceptionally clever, so here it is!

THIS WEEK’S INSTRUCTIONS:

This week’s contest answer is a seven-letter word you might say when you get the meta.

Solve well, and be not led astray by words intended to deceive.

Beam me up (#17)! That was fun. Happy to get both the WSJCC and MGWCC quickly this week, it's been a while since that happened!

Beam up requested. No doubt really, but I'll still sit here and worry til I see the leaderboard update.

I was initially afraid this was going to be something I don't like, especially when I saw something that's either an incredible coincidence or an Easter egg (I expect the latter). So I enjoyed it even more than usual when it turned out not to be that at all.

Requesting beam-up. Feeling pretty good about this one. Been awhile since I've gotten a WSJ and MGWCW in a single weekend. It's a Thanksgiving miracle!

Edit: Beamed aboard!

On the board at #39. Pretty clever, and not as difficult as I had feared.

Very enjoyable! Late start due to tree buying (and hauling and unstringing and installing and…).

Beamed up at Douglas Adams’ #42. Happy Thanksgiving to all!

Holy Moses. I went from "No way I'm getting this one" to "Oh, wait, what's this?" to "No way. For real?" to "Requesting to beam aboard." in about 5 minutes. Loved this one.

Edit: officially beamed aboard at #68
Happy to give nudges. If you notice I've solved, please tell me about avenues you've explored so I can nudge you in the right direction and not off a cliff.

It definitely feels like a Saturday to me too, but you'll have to wait another day for Pandora :o

Submitted three minutes after the latest update. Now we wait!

BEAMED UP!

There was just one little thing that had me doubting my answer.
