Beam me up. I went with the Standard Format as I have been in a real slump lately and needed a confidence builder. Mission accomplished.

Beamed & needing Guinness and a fireplace to complement this fall weather.
Don't have a Guinness for you, but I am at the lake so I do have a fireplace. This picture is from this morning. Image

Everything
Downs only
No instructions
Downs + no instructions

Which one should I go for?
There are certain elements of popular culture that are required and which may lie outside the broad sweep of your knowledge. So try a "downs only" first. Then when you are stumped, try one with the across clues (the instructions don't add much).

I am doing the downs only with no instructions. I have the grid completed with the four theme answers but there are a couple of other answers that don't make sense. Am working on the meta

on another note, the puz app on my Chromebook now seems to work - it used to want me to correct things that didn't need correction, it said "solved" when I finished this grid.

I got almost all the grid with the Downs only. No clue on the meta without instructions so I peeked. Peeking did not help at all. Googling did not help either unless I was to google ad nauseum.

The instructions are no help. But the across clues give it away.

Beam me up! I opted for the no instructions and kept all the clues which was pretty easy, but fine with me after all the super hard metas lately.

I got it with a push and a shove. It would have taken a lot of googling before I stumbled on the answer. I was hoping that the answer would be Bucky #$%^& Dent
