That would be me. I couldn't remember if I'd submitted or just thought of doing it!
Thanks for clueing me in so I can definitely rule it out. Not surprised it was wrong -- wasn't anywhere near as fun & groany as I knew it should be.

I misread the prompt. I thought it said, " a sports team repeatedly illustrated in the grid. Despite that, I submitted a scattrershot PM of an answer that close enough for MikeyG to put me on the board.

Will there be any spoilers for those of us who don't know how it starts?

1. You're likely overthinking this if you're stuck - sorry! What do all of the asterisked entries have in common?

2. How are the entries oriented in the grid? Usually, if five themers are all going in the same direction - and that direction is not across - there's a reason for that!

3. Don't yell at me.

It was a quick revamp after I realized it might be too hard without them. (I'm nice...sometimes.)
