Invited a friend to play golf next Saturday. He had the audacity to refuse because he's attending the Ryder Cup!

ENJOY! (Sipped Bourbon and branch water is an excellent overnight treatment for overtaxed vocal cords...)
Sorry Joe but I would have made the same choice as your friend

My old HP45 sure helped me with this (what? I'm showing my age?)

You are only showing your age if you have one of these and used it in college and after. I am sure that there are many here who have no idea what it is.

My dad had one of those from studying engineering!
As long as you did not say "your grandfather had one"

On shore finally. Saw the path right away but tried to make it harder than it was. Hit me in my sleep (again)

On shore - was not as easy as last week as it required some painful calculus recollections that had been buried somewhere in my cranium for the past 30+ years. Will drink some El Dorado blue (btw, great rum from Guyana for any rum lovers out there) after my last call today to wash away those memories once and for all.

Had the grid and part of the meta yesterday, but the first answer I thought of didn't seem quite right. Woke up with fresh eyes and a clearer head and headed right to shore with the correct answer....I hope!
Seems like a perfect morning for a mimosa!

IT'S A MATH-THEMED META!!!! Hooray! Been waiting awhile for such to come back to play on my strengths.... And saw the path emerging... but wow getting the last piece in place took a few headscratches to get there. But safely on shore in time for one last Big Beach Area TwoFiftyOne at the beach today. Ready for the weekend!

Love this competition! It unfortunately conflicts this year with the tennis Laver Cup... Watched the US win on TV in 1999 as we were preparing for the arrival of my second daughter... We kid her to this day that had she been a boy, we may have named her Ryder. Had the opportunity to volunteer in Medinah in 2012 and got assigned to communications for the Euro team - wonderful and amazing experience.

No no, you should be very proud of yourself. I understand that the difficulty scale this week is given in common logarithms.
For nudges, feel free to PM me. I won't have a clue how to help you, but you might shove me ashore.

On shore. Took me back about about 55 years, had to reawaken some quiescent neurons.

When I was a small child in the mid 70s my dad got an employee deal on a Rockwell scientific calculator. My older brother's HS math teacher was *woah* and I think my dad hooked him up with one as well. I would look at the things on and above the buttons and try to figure out what they did when I pressed them. (By the time I actually knew, Rockwell was way out of the calculator business; I had one from Texas Instruments that was solar powered.)

Oh hey...20 bucks for one on eBay right now!

While I appreciate the easy puzzles, it makes it harder to get that mug :)

Agreed. My wife and I have attended two Ryder Cups - both in Europe (The Belfry and Wales). The US team lost both times, but the action and talent was awesome to watch in person!
