On shore! I'm terrible at math, so I did require some help from my smarter half, but it's 100%.

Rita and George

You are only showing your age if you have one of these and used it in college and after. I am sure that there are many here who have no idea what it is.

Looking back, now see that it has been a recurring theme for me. I actually had one that was *circular*! *It* actually worked just dandy fine. But, nearly bought a DeLorean 40 years ago. Have tried a *lot* of "bleeding edge" stuff that seemed like a cool idea "at the time". :-)

My old HP45 sure helped me with this (what? I'm showing my age?)

Got my first one during junior year of high school--great for chemistry class, as you can see all equivalent ratios instantly. I have a medium size collection of them now, ranging in length from about four inches long to eighteen, some with scales I don't even know how to use.
For nudges, feel free to PM me. I won't have a clue how to help you, but you might shove me ashore.

Invited a friend to play golf next Saturday. He had the audacity to refuse because he's attending the Ryder Cup!

ENJOY! (Sipped Bourbon and branch water is an excellent overnight treatment for overtaxed vocal cords...)

SReh26 wrote: Thu Sep 16, 2021 11:22 pm I remember a discussion in the college cafeteria about the value of a “math background” (we meant 😅 up to calc in HS!) in other majors. Those of us with a math background said no question it was valuable to whatever we were then studying. Those who didn’t made their predictable protestations to the contrary.

Saw a t shirt today that said “Another day that I didn’t use calculus”. I thought that was a pretty accurate statement for all of us that took that course and never pursued a career that required the application of some of our math learnings.
However, your cab would have driven off the road, if someone hadn't, and you wouldn't be reading this.

Awaiting the coffee mug souvenirs you're bringing us from abroad!

Post Yom Kippur solve.
My just-after-high-school daughter helped me out.

I continue to be in awe of Mike Shenk/WSJ/and the crossword contest puzzle constructions. Solved this faster than usual; was proud of myself but see it is only rated a "1." Hah...figures.
