Good afternoon muggles

We are off and running or singing or whatever.

First a belated welcome to Puzzled as our newest muggle. Lydia has posted before but somehow she was not officially in my list.

We have 8 on the ship and 122 on the shore. And more coming all the time.

Have a safe day.

But I can handle it. "Hello AGAIN, Isaac".
Sure, but they're little ones. It says so in the title.

But... I did think the question was regarding the "but." And any proper grammarian will tell you, it's spelled with an ellipsis: "But..." Ending a sentence with "but..." and leaving off the unfinished part in order to indicate that there are potentially many other possibilities which you can imagine for yourself, is quite common and not particularly regional.

At least it is in my experience, but...
[...]
Have become a utiliser of that "end of the sentence" ellipsis. Even read up on em and learnt (from one source) that there should be double spacing between those "dots". :-)
Egad! I had no idea there should be double-spacing between the dots! (Yes, I used a hyphen there.) I can never show my face in good grammarian company again without hanging my head in shame! And Microsoft Word autocorrects it to be a single character with, seemingly, less space between the dots than three single-spaced periods. (Let's start a new Bill Gates conspiracy theory!)

On shore.
With a few notable exceptions, generally do not know the 2000s #1s.
Probably because our kids were born in 1997 and 1999 and popular new music didn't occupy nearly as large part of our lives beginning then.
Have spent a lot of time, however, introducing them to 60's, 70's and 80's musical canon, for better or worse!

So, how are things going these days? Any improvement?
Top of the world! Fantabulous! Never better! Si se puede!
Glad to hear.... (scribbling... grandiosity, invincibility, check)
Getting fitted for a tiara, feel fulfilled!
That’s wonderful. Got an advanced degree?
oh yes, but thats not it...
Bought a home? Got a great job? Did someone propose?
Yes yes, but its even better!
Early retirement, good skin, cancer and covid free? Two weeks of mild weather with low humidity?
YES, but that’s not it!
Then what ... oh don’t tell me... the little game in the crossword
I made it to SHORE by myself!!!!
You made it to shore... (scribbling, 🙄)

Grid done. Starting to consider the meta when guess who shows up at the bar on the next stool? Hi, Harv. Isaac, give Harvey a cold one. Quiet now, Harvey. I’m doing a little cogitation here…!

Ours were born in 1994 and 1996 and we, too, also missed out on a lot of popular culture. And a lot of world and national news which, in retrospect, was not a bad thing. I'll hear or read about some disaster, totally not remember anything about it, and realize that it occurred during our clueless toddler-rearing years.
