I am unable to get the WSJ crossword menu to load. Could anyone provide me with a direct link to this weeks puzzle, either the online solving portal or the pdf. Thank you.

Just Google “Wall Street Journal Contest Crossword” and it will come up.

Popped in for a moment and all I see is "Classic Gaffney" "Tricky Gaffney" etc.
My mind is more mike-ly than gaffney-esque. Sooooooooo, I'm thinking of giving up before stressing out and remaining clueless anyway.

"Classic" like it all makes sense and you know when you have it. This puzzle is not terribly hard. Once you see the rabbit's butt, you can grab the whole bunny.

Well, THAT was fun! I get all cocky and strutty and cartwheely on those relatively rare occasions when the meta and I meet ... so I'm breaking my "school night" rules and downing a Yuengling on shore. Cheers to all on this near-summer Thursday!

An early visit to the shore this week. It usually takes a two or three tries for me, but this was clear right away.

I mean, like others said before this is classic Gaffney but it still is impressive. Very pleasant aha moment.

Meg, You convinced me to give it another look and I tried a classic Gaff-nique (Gaffney technique I don't especially enjoy) and got it. I do have to say that I wonder how he comes up with these multi-step amazing ideas and how he then manages to execute them. That blows me away. And I appreciated that I did not need to google.

On shore, for three in a row and seven of the last nine (Oops, an inadvertent Star Trek: Voyager reference ). A very quick grid, but then I spent some time down in the dark bunny lairs before I put the puzzle aside and came back later for a fresh look. I tried a new tack, and in no time there was sand beneath my feet!

Gaff-nique - I love it! Unfortunately, I don't have it yet. Grid is complete, and I think it's safe to say I see the theme clue/answers. But so far only four-letter words are coming to mind. Time to set this one aside and let my sub-conscious have a whack at it.Inca wrote: ↑Fri Jun 21, 2019 12:05 am

Happy Summer Solstice everyone!
I’m on both the metaphorical and a literal shore this morning.
When I found the solution, I first thought that another non-five-letter word would be a better solution, but on further reflection decided I like it better just as it is.

On shore! Had to ask "WWGD" to find the right inspiration.
