Al Sisti is surely an alias. I'll bet when we meet Matt Gaffney next week, we'll discover that he looks an awful lot like Al.Joepickett wrote: ↑Fri Jun 25, 2021 6:08 am
How else does Al finish most at 4:16? How DOES Al finish that fast?
For nudges, feel free to PM me. I won't have a clue how to help you, but you might shove me ashore.

If Elizabeth Kubler-Ross Did Metas....SReh26 wrote: ↑Fri Jun 25, 2021 9:21 am Here‘s what I go through every Thursday:
1. Elation- finished the grid in record time!
2. Road runner over the edge treading in place... got the title, see the theme entries.... but, but, BUT!!
3. Falling into the canyon. I‘ll never get it!
4. But its only Thursday.... glimmer of hope.
5. Rolling up sleeves, getting down to business. There is no other way to do this than putting in the time, doing the work.

I got some help to take the pieces and put them together so that I could find the answer. Ashore.Joepickett wrote: ↑Thu Jun 24, 2021 6:53 pm Hmm. I'm not seeing this. I've assembled some pieces but I just have nonsense. Obviously I'm missing something.

I got the grid quickly last night, but spent way too much time in what I'm now convinced was a deep rabbit hole. I think I'm finally on the right track, but I need Isaac to keep me fortified while I cogitate.

On shore. Never disappointed with a Patrick Berry puzzle. Enjoyed the grid and meta and breezed through both.

Goof Friday morning muggles.
Another Patrick Berry contest - a lot of fun
So far we have 9 on the ship with Isaac and 85 basking on the shore.

At this point I think I have been pulled out to sea by a very strong riptide. Every time I catch a wave and try and make it to shore I get pulled out again. No sign of land. Need to catch my breath before trying to get to shore again.

On shore. I'm new to this puzzle contest, having recently wandered over from the MMMM. Last week's WSJ contest was my first attempt, and oh boy, that one was *much harder* than this one.

How is it we have six pages of "on shore" but only three have rated the puzzle's difficulty?

But also, the state of mind on one side of solving vs the other: utter despair vs. top of the world elation. I guess that is what makes these addictive. Crossword puzzles by themselves are less dramatic - a slower burn vs this high glycemic carb, to mix too metaphors, trying deftly to avoid others.
Oh and btw... ASHORE and feeling fine. Watermelon margarita please.
Happy to provide a light assist to a struggling muggle.

Finally made it to shore. Was clear to me what part of the puzzle I had to work with, but took a while to get to the right path. Took a lot more time for me than Matt's MGWCC "Crazy Eights", go figure. Mr. Berry's puzzles are as always, elegant and brilliant!
