Went down a rabbit hole and got an almost answer.
Re-evaluated to what must be the proper answer (which I have submitted)
Even so, I do have a minor quibble with the puzzle.

I came perilously close to an "alternative" answer, but the real DINO's out now.
It seems he was in the box with a CAT for a while --

DINO ME (for now). I have not heard from Will yet but we know he is traveling. I feel pretty confident. My answer is correct. I just hope that it is right.
CONFIRMED! Great puzzle. I found a way to remove all doubt. Basically following directions which is not a strong suit for me.

Pretty sure I solved, using a correction from Will....waiting on confirmation.
