The answer to this meta cannot possibly be FELIX THE CAT, but it should be.

Up to about 3 hours, 30 minutes so far. Need to print it out - no epiphanies as of yet. The consensus seems to be that when (if) something jumps out at me, it'll be a real head-slapper.

Current state (even with coffee):

Stuck, for sure. I've seen one thing but can't do anything with it. Hope to make today's Zoom, but if I can't, some of you will be hearing from me.....

I have done the grid. Nothing popping out at me yet.

Now if you'll excuse me, it appears I have a great deal of unfinished business here.

Zooming to shore as the mechanism clicked when a thoughtful Muggle stumbled on a great clue. Thanks to Wendy and the Zoom Crew for giving me a much needed shove! I'll take a Hot Toddy to fight off this chilly, damp weather.

Yowza, that was an obtuse one for me (after a tough grid, no less). Thanks for the assistance, Zoomers!

Time for some 19A!

I'm now on shore after the Zoom meeting.
I was the one who provided the final piece of the puzzle in the chat, but I didn't think it was relevant to the meta until some people who had solved saw what I wrote.
