That was cute! I’m with the shore party

If you want help with a meta, feel free to PM me. The more specific you are about what you have and what you want, the more likely I can help without spoiling.
(And if I help you win a mug, I’ll be especially delighted.)

On the beach. Let's all toast our hosts, Matt and Mike. Will 2023 be the "Year of the Meta" ??

On shore at what's getting to be a crowded beach.
I wonder how many people are going to submit the wrong thing, despite Matt being very clear about what he wants.

Ashore, if that can mean getting the meta but still working on the grid?

I am on shore with a hearty HO ho ho at the meta. A late start and some difficulty with the grid, but made goOD time with the mechanism and hiED my way to shore. I'm not one to CROW, but my solve streak is now one!
I'll have a kahlua and cream.

Late start but ashore, and feeling a bit prescient.
The site is just a web page, a meeting place, a clubhouse - it's the group that's special.

Finished the grid, but no farther. It has been a good diversion: we are "stuck" in Palm Beach with relatives due to the Southwest meltdown. Having a five day delay! Irritating, but I guess in the grand scheme of things this isn't too bad.
Happy New Year to everyone. Let's hope 2023 is a better one.

Oh boy. I have several different paths that lead to 10+ possible answers. It'll be quite the story for the post-mortem. Sometimes my free associations lead me far astray from the right path. Sometimes it's the right path with a missed turn. Not sure what this is yet.
Hope I can make tomorrow's Zoom. Maybe I'll have a more definitive answer by then.
But for now, I am done (with the grid) and NOT done (with the meta). As opposed to...

If I'm around, I am willing to join the Muggle Zoom room at other times to lend a hand to those in need.

Swam ashore and found quite a party going on at the beach. Had my "aha" moment as I was riding the subway home from tennis. Nice glass of pinot noir in hand.
