Actually I have heard of them. Haven't heard of them in years, though.
I knew this would be a generational thing as soon as I read the clue. ;)
So, are you saying I'm old? I bet Will P. never heard of them.

I'd guess that I am the same age as you & *I'm* old (and knew the answer). You are not old.

Did everybody see this? The guy who has 6 sisters & a mother has publicly stated - for the record - that Lisa is NOT old! Please sign & date as witnesses, below:

Any reader of P.G. Wodehouse has heard of them. In one story the upper-class twit Bertie Wooster wears a daringly loud plaid pair on the golf course and his traditional valet, Jeeves, strongly disapproves. In the end Jeeves, of course, gets his way and the offending "article of clothing" ends up being given to the gardener's helper.

Yeah this was a NEVER for me - Someone told me the answer.

Never heard of it and the one answer in the grid I had to look up was the one that related to it - That probably should have been a hint but like with Will's puzzle this week - if I don't know the subject matter and it isn't something easily "googleable" based on what is given - its going to be a NEVER for me in much the way ANISETTE was.

Google translate says no. Hector said "on the beach" and Schmeel said "Good to see you here. The beers on me"

Ashore in record time. This one leapt out of the grid and grabbed me by the lapels.

Rats! If it WAS a spoiler, I was going to send it to my son-in-law to translate. I'm seeing nothing but rabbits so far.

I did too... I’m 56 and have traveled the country. I’ve never heard of it.

This is how I know Wendy is smarter than me - I consider myself pretty well read and pretty knowledgeable about authors even if I haven't read them but I have never heard of this person.

They're very funny stories, but also the basis of a hilarious TV series starring Hugh Laurie and Stephen Fry.
