Ashore. Late start, quick finish. Think I'll have a gin & tonic for a change.

Ashore! Too easy for a Patrick Berry. I was hoping for one of his mind-melters!

On shore. I’ll have a beer to celebrate because I finally filled the grid, long after I sussed what the answer was going to be. Hey, @Bob cruise director when's that next Knicks game?

Ashore! Tough fill!
I don't have anything clever to say, but if I did, it would go here.

Ashore! Had some trouble with the proper names, but then a quick swim to shore.
In honor of the new pope, maybe an Oreo (rhymes with Leo) shake?

I get the muggle name, @gdshort, now, because you're a better person than I. It took me a while and more interwebbings than 1 to finish the grid after solving the meta.

"gdshort" must be short for Gunga Din.

Ashore. The grid was more difficult than the meta.

On the shore!

The correct shore, not "The Other Shore" as performed by the Austin Lounge Lizards.

Well, that took way too long. On shore. I’ve already had my alcohol for the day. It’s bedtime in Paris.

Followed five or six fruitless paths before the light came on. I think I'll go with some Four Roses Small Batch Select before tonight's crab cakes. Of course here in Central Virginia, that has to mean home-made. My 21 years in Baltimore spoiled me for anything that doesn't at least come close to what they offer at Faidley's in Lexington Market.
