Fast and fun, though my knowledge of fast food chains is so thin that I had to use Google to make sure I had the right answer. 38A too was new to me, but I especially liked 62A.

Tough grid. Loved the meta! On shore and hungry for some reason.

Marion and I are toes in the sand - on shore. Agree with the comments about a tougher puzzle in a couple of spots. Regardless, it's done and so are we!

Once again, 14 minutes from ship to shore, almost all of which was spent on the grid.

On shore.
I had a really hard time with the grid. I knew I was on the right track with the meta, but Google helped. So did having eaten at the fast-food chain before.

I'm ashore. Was going through my usual toolbox of failure without even spotting a rabbit and then I got it. 7 & 7 time.

I made it to shore. I also had a tough time with the grid - still have a couple white spaces, but the meta is a lock once you have it.

Fun & challenging grid solved this afternoon, then had early evening plans.

Special thanks to Isaac for serving up a favorite mug of Oktoberfest puzzle juice, which inspired a night awakening and a quick meta solve, given the opportunity of a second look.

On shore.

I am literally at the beach (in southern Maine). Had to do the puzzle on my phone but fortunately figured out the meta halfway through the grid. So I’m on the shore at the shore—what could be better?

Grid done. Matt was really on his game with this fun one.
Meta undone. The captain denied my request for shore leave. Maybe later I’ll get to go. He gave me one short order- “Get back to your stern garden post!”

Keeping Isaac company for now. From the posts so far I think I'll have him all to myself.

Tough grid for me and an even tougher meta. I see something that has to be a first step but no idea what to do with it. I'm posting now because I'll be busy all weekend at a family get-together with - horrors! - no wifi . Hoping post-enlightenment will find time to strike without search engine assistance. But that seems unlikely given my lack of familiarity with anything I'm seeing so far.

On shore. Got it somewhat quickly, but needed google to confirm the path, as my popular culture references are weak.

Finishing yard work with the rented backhoe that goes back tomorrow. The old joints are aching.

Will be at the tiki bar with the Mrs. later, having two deadly dry Bombay Sapphire martinis, in preparation for watching Bob's baseball team lose four straight this weekend (I hope).

Got it only after a hint and even then I went down a major rabbit hole I'll discuss after the deadline. Every once in a while, I am reminded of how out of touch I am, and this was one of those times.

A heap of trouble with the grid. But the meta came fairly squeezily. Count me on shore.

Struggled with the grid but found the way to shore in a reasonably short time.

Dom made it to shore last night - got it earlier in the solving process than did I, but I beat him to shore by time solved.
