I finally submitted the answer I’d had since Thursday night ~~ because my collaborator provided me the “click” for it.

We’ll see.

Could be the easiest meta I’ve ever tried to make hard ~~ or got wrong.

Ashore, I think…

On shore, but almost forgot to submit... Thankfully I just remembered with under 3 hours to go.

Busy weekend. Just getting ashore now. Whew!

OK - just tried to post the names again and got the same error notice so here is the final status

We have 10 on the ship and 204 on the shore.

Ashore! Wasn’t sure but got confirmation from one of our expert-level muggles. I’ve already had a couple of Sam Adams Octoberfest today so why not one more to celebrate.

Ashore! Had an idea but needed a nudge from mom to push me in the right direction. Happy to finally be onshore again after a couple of weeks with no clue.

On shore. I agree with other posters, I could see another solution.

After much deliberation, submitted what seems to be the most fitting answer and discarded thoughts of my other one. So I’ll say I’m ashore. I see footprints in the sand, so that’s promising. Or is it?…

I considered this as an answer, but it didn’t click enough for me to want to send it in. Not a huge AHA.

This answer was the logical one for me. I’m glad all the comments about multiple alternate answers didn’t shake my confidence.

ESSAY TEST was my answer Thursday afternoon, but I only felt about 50% confidence. After reflecting on the way the theme clues were posed (as test questions), it drove me up to about 75%. I don't know how anyone could feel 100% confident, unless maybe you put all 100 or so grid answers into pairs and got only nonsense.

I submitted ESSAY SET. Anyone else do this? I didn't look far enough to consider TEST. Should have spent more time on it.

Um... that's surely conceivable, isn't it?

Obviously ESSAY is the first grid entry so only 50 or so others, so *do* try them all and ... presto .... 100% confidence!

Until someone points out that SET and ESSAY SET might make for a conceivable answer... after all... the theme *is* a set of SAs.... until you realize you have never in your life ever heard anyone use the phrase "ESSAY SET" and .... the seeking *answers* is better served with TEST than with sets.

Anyway.... 100% confidence is a relative thing.... It's not like 100% means something is absolute, does it?

I didn't get far enough to consider SET... but when someone suggested it to me it actually gave me pause.
