Everything Basil Hayden creates is really fine - have to give the dark Rye a try.

So about that title.... If you google "You'll figure it out 8 mile" you will find that it is a line that eminem's character says. Which I you had seen the movie you might remember. But as I only know of one person who has ever seen the movie ...
[Always dense, it took me all weekend wondering "but what does the title mean" before it occurred to me "Oh, maybe it has something to do with the movie". I meant to go back to the grid and see if there were any hints to Jimmy Rabbit but ...]

Damn, I got this one, in spite of very little knowledge of movies, but I forgot to submit.
Very easy, probably 2000 correct entries.

We thought it might be relevant that the meta grid answers came in pairs - giving you M & M (Eminem). Which, if intentional, was a nice touch. We watched the movie followed by a documentary on Eminem on Prime on Saturday. Loved the movie. Learned a lot about Eminem we didn’t know.

I just assumed the word “figure” in the puzzle title was an allusion to a Figure 8.

I, too, was in the Figure 8 camp. I was afraid this one was too easy and thought I might be missing something.
Have a terrific week, Muggles.

I had no clue, except I knew it had something to do with MILE since there were a bunch of them in the grid. Fortunately, I knew that IMDB has an advanced title search. Plug in:
Title name: MILE
Title type: Movie
Release date: 1999 to 2025 (since I didn't want to get trapped in the "is it the year the movie came out or the year the award was given" debate)
Awards & recognition: Oscar-winning
See results: only one, "8 Mile" from 2002. Click on it because I can't believe it won an Oscar, count the occurrences of MILE in the grid, submit answer, done.

I also noticed that six letters of 33A oMEN above 40A anIME spelled Eminem and took that as confirmation.

You're killing me! Gave up wine and sweets for lent. I love the jammy taste of a good Merlot. And I love an oaky vanilla taste. Just two weeks until Easter.

This one came to me fairly easily - I've heard of but never seen the movie. At first I thought "Oscar winning" meant best movie. But the Oscar was for the song Lose Yourself by Eminem. MMMM solvers probably remember it as the answer to last year's mega-meta contest. Pete Muller did a wonderfully different take on the award-winning song for his reveal:
