On shore! I picked it up a few times yesterday without seeing anything, then picked it up this morning and BINGO! I think my brain works on the meta while I sleep. 🤣

Wow, I think we're having a BIG party on shore. But I'm relieved to finally be dry after a few weeks of being soaking wet. I'll have a frozen margarita, please!

FINALLY on shore.

I just started to type that I was hopelessly lost at sea, totally frustrated by how easy this was supposed to be, when the answer jumped off the page and smacked me in the nose. I have two grids filled in and used several pages of the Excel spreadsheet. It was the Excel spreadsheet that saved me in the end.

In retrospect, I noticed something in the grid very early that was similar to some previous mechanisms. That sucked me down a rabbit hole. It was actually more of a black hole since I could not escape its gravatational attraction.

2:00am AHA moment while in bed. Woke hubby and told him. Explained it to him and told him not to forget it in case I did. Not sure that was fair of me but it was too late and too cold to get up and submit.

Submitted this morning. Good luck to all.

I literally came ashore last night at the eleventh hour (CST) after finally diving into the grid at bedtime. It was a pretty easy solve all around.

Composed my verse this AM which I will share after the reveal.

On another note - any Wordlers here? Have been really enjoying something that runs counter to other online games that try to keep you on for as long as possible. One 5-letter word per day and then you have to wait for another 24 hours before the next. Different skill set to crosswords and metas but fun nonetheless!

@mrmd , I Love Wordle…got my whole family doing it. And here’s another variation for you “Absurdle”. Read this to see how it differs from Wordle and a link to play!

If you’ve solved the meta and are looking for another puzzle, there’s a Rows Garden by Patrick Berry on the WSJ site this week: https://s.wsj.net/public/resources/docu ... 222022.pdf

Now on shore. Toes in sand.

(Well, in snow. Well, in boots that are in the snow. Well... they will be if I decide to go outside. I mean... it was -3 when I woke up this morning!)

So we have not reached the beach. Wine is poured anyway. Thanks, Isaac!
Startling. Your solve rate is 10 or 100 times mine.

This is the easiest, most obvious puzzle I’ve seen in years … or ever.
Yes, it must have been the diversion of the kids talking about video games I've never heard of. (Did you know there is a blind person who plays the video game Street Fighter? I didn't, and wouldn't have thought it possible. There's also a game for the blind that uses echolocation! Then my son talked about wanting to design a Virtual Reality game for the blind. Quite a change from when my dad would tell me about the family gathering around the radio...)

But I woke this morning, and picked up the iPad with the completed grid and a fresh set of eyes. The answer popped out at me immediately. "D'oh! Why didn't I see that instantly yesterday???"

Coffee brewing. Wine later. I need my Saturday brunch of syrup with... [who cares]... soaking it up.

I seem to be hopelessly adrift this week. It was a fairly easy grid but the meta has me confounded. I would appreciate anyone sending a beacon my way.

Edit: thank you for the nudges! I was able to find my way with a bit of help.

I motored ashore with an unusually low number of rabbit holes in my wake.

And like others here, I learned a new word!

Ashore with the hordes of muggles, can't even see the tiki bar from here. Good thing Isaac was willing to fill my flask before I left the boat.
