Just back from deer camp. Saw a lot more there than I see here.
Ahoy, Isaac! Something, please, to dull the shame of cluelessness.

For nudges, feel free to PM me. I won't have a clue how to help you, but you might shove me ashore.

Ashore!
I thought I had the answer on Friday but I couldn’t figure out how to finish the last step. Now I see it (at least I think I do!) and have submitted just in time. So clever!!

Phew! On shore. Got the basic mechanism relatively early but just got to shore...quite a swim but worth it.

Ashore, belatedly. Or I've found quite the rabbit hole. Either way, I'm content for the week. Time for an Amber Ale.

I have 9 letters. After struggling, that’s the limit of my ability. I will guess at the answer.

Here's what happened to me: I completely missed NEW/GNU and WORLD/WHIRLED for a good long while, but I did clearly see ROW/ROE/EEL and (perhaps reaching a bit) ERR/AIR/SPARK, and eventually ruminated on SCI/SIGH, HOU/HEW/HUE, HEY/HAY, and generally trying to make the mechanism directly yield 10 letters.
NEW/GNU eventually clicked.

Amazing. I actually had all the homophones but couldn't figure out what to do with them. Congratulations to all you smart solving Muggles.
Have a great week.

Did anyone take the 10/4 clue bait for a detour before getting to shore? I tried to make sense of 10 4-letter answers, nothing; then looked into how AT (#10 on the grid is A, #4 is T) would play, nyet.
TALE and YARN were just too obvious after a while to go unnoticed.
