Fun meta and grid.
Actually I’m going to sit in the stern garden for awhile longer to do some cloudspotting.

This year I discovered, and joined the Cloud Appreciation Society (who knew??) Every day I receive an interesting cloud photo, as below, accompanied by a meteorological explanation or a literary reference. It has enriched my already nature loving life in a delightful way.

I want to recommend the book The Invention of Clouds: How an Amateur Astronomer Forged the Language of the Skies by Richard Hamblyn. Fun history of science read about the Quaker pharmacist Luke Howard, who presented his taxonomy of clouds in a lecture to a gathering of amateur British scientists called the Askesian Society in 1802. It's essentially the same classification still used today. The book also discusses how clouds have figured in popular culture including art and theology. I read it years ago and remember it fondly. Naturalists were the social influencers of that day!

Still stuck on the ship. I'm not seeing the way, just lots of rabbit holes. Hard to apply the hint from 75 across.
Something parents hope their kids will avoid -- missing the meta!

Neither do we - not town water, not town sewerage, no sidewalks, no street lights, no garbage pickup - makes you wonder what our tax dollars are going for.
Good lord - where do you live? The Australian Outback?

Ashore.
I got a late start this week, but when I was able to put my mind to it I saw it pretty quickly.

You can add me to the ship. I've been staring at this thing so long my eyes are going dry and you're telling me it's easy???

DUH moment achieved! I’m on the beach, finally! 🏖

Glad to catch up with DanA! I got a minor hint from him, but not so much as to spoil the DUH/AHA moment.

Not easy for me, probably due to my continuing difficulty to read and properly interpret hint clues! Happy to join the beach party, and will have a merlot a bit later!

Sometimes staring is not enough. Have you tried crossing your eyes? Or perhaps stealing quick glaces at the puzzle out of the corner of your eye?

Beer me! The grid was easy enough, although I wasn't familiar with 40D. I figured out the mechanism but couldn't see how to apply it on Thursday. Wrestled with it for 15 minutes on Saturday, changed my approach slightly, well whaddaya know!
