I'm right there with you....SometimesStumped wrote: Fri May 16, 2025 10:22 pm So far, love this one! I found this and that but don’t know what to do next. I am close though—no doubt about it. I’ll update if we solve!

Onshore! Great family teamwork. We almost never get to shore on a Friday and are celebrating.

Got ashore early today, after some helpful Zoom group discussion. Took my time with some fine single malt to celebrate.

Ashore! Solved on the plane and just in time for son’s college graduation tomorrow. Cheers to the Class of 2025!

Ashore, but I'm going to need some chest compressions after that tedious slog—not whatsoever enamored of the meta.
Edit:
Incidentally, there is a way better thematically linked film, which is undoubtedly "well-known," that unfortunately doesn't have a tight mechanical justification. Lots of red herrings in the grid . . .

On the beach at the tiki bar! Make mine a Jack Daniels & Vernor's. Very clever construction Matt.

Ashore!
Another hunt and peck week for me.
I was hoping that familiarity with the 1980's would balance out my weakness on movies. Overall, yes, but a slower solve due to a critical mistake along the way that necessitated one check-in with Mr. G.
If we're discussing the definition of "well-known" on Monday, I'll have a pair of copper disks to toss in.

Bespoke nudges available upon request (if I'm on shore, off the couch, in the castle, petting an un-bagged cat, ...).
Let me know how small or large a hint you want, or hit me with a specific question(s).

Late to it this beautiful Saturday morning, but on the beach with just a cappuccino in hand. Have a good weekend all!

Am I the only one that finds weekends far more relaxing with the meta in the bag?
I find myself less snappish, less irritable, more gracious to humans, animals, and plants, alike.
To be sure, it's not that I DON'T have a cocktail on Friday night with the meta unsolved...it's just that I enjoy it less. It feels faintly...unearned. Presumptuous, if you will.
One feels like something of an impertinent upstart --a child at the grown up's table where nobody says anything yet you still feel faintly unwelcome and you certainly don't get the jokes though you certainly marvel at the bawdier side of Uncle Ralph that your young mind had never conceived of before.
Who knew that Thursday afternoons would effectively take over my life and chart the course of my weekend?

Phew! Made it quickly off the boat but had trouble seeing the shore initially. Now we’ve made it and can relax.
