Well apparently a lot of you are game!
There has been good activity on both versions of the puzzle, and surprisingly about the same number for each:

Just to save the counting, that is a total of 37 individual solvers (i.e. ones who have solved one or the other or both). I apologize for the couple of missteps but I think I have everything as it should be now. Nudges will be Friday but of course you can PM me anytime if you'd rather not wait.

NUDGES!I am always willing to give nudges IF ASKED; metas should be about fun, not frustration. PM me what you have done so far, because often you are closer than you think, and I will try to help you move along.

That is a pretty explicit answer....

THere is more than one way to loose a cat!MatthewL wrote: Wed Aug 14, 2024 5:59 pm Cat is out, on a total wild guess based on one clue in the puzzle (and not the one you think). Haven't figured out the mechanism yet, but a loose cat is a loose cat. Thanks for the puzzles, Tom!

With all these dogs around, the cat wasn't sure it wanted to come out of the bag until I implicitly guaranteed its safety.
But it's out now, and like many others, I'm off to see if I can make that offer explicit.
Update: cat is now out of the bag implicitly and explicitly. I can see why it was hard to choose between the versions.

Bespoke nudges available upon request (if I'm on shore, off the couch, in the castle, petting an un-bagged cat, ...).
Let me know how small or large a hint you want, or hit me with a specific question(s).

My wife thinks OUR dog is the most famous. At least to us...
Nice explicit--->implicit journey.
Hey! A thought:
If you solved only the implicit, or the explicit, but not the other, would it be a "Schrodinger Dog"?

Interesting question, actually I think this is Schrödinger's dog:

Definitely would have needed the nudges on the implicit version, so thanks for making the explicit one.

Check out this very cool project by many of your favorite muggles to raise money to fight cancer. You get a fun puzzle bundle and good causes get $. Win-win: Crosswords for Cancer

Hmmm, the implication is that I need to avoid implicit answers. That seems to be spelled outajk wrote: Fri Aug 16, 2024 1:34 pm Definitely would have needed the nudges on the implicit version, so thanks for making the explicit one.![]()

That bring the grand total to 54! Careful now or I'm going to get a big head, we are getting near Cap'n Rick numbers...oh, and a shameless plug, be sure to try the SSS on Sunday. I understand the Captain leased out the space to a mad scientist!

I am remiss in that I did not mention solver 39 rfj for the Explicit and 36 JakeDaSnake for the Implicit bringing the grand total to a lofty 56.
I believe tomorrows might be easier, we will see.
