I have to say, I'm loving these comments! I responded to several, but they didn't "take." (I'm pretty new at this. This is a good forum, but it's no Usenet). Keep 'em coming, and if you're having any trouble, maybe I can post some hints near the middle of the week.

Off the couch! Nice work. A clue in a recent puzzle helped me see the final step. The constructors background is too cool to be real. I suspect a pseudonym.

It's definitely a pseudonym and I'm here to unmask him! Clark E. Tripe's real name is... Purdy Lee Spackle. And here's the irrefutable evidence:

What a great parody. They really nailed the style of the times. Could slot in next to my dad’s 1960 senior yearbook.

I think you might be on to something... is it a coincidence that "Purdy Lee Spackle" and "Clark E. Tripe" have ALMOST THE EXACT SAME NUMBER OF LETTERS!? What say you, "Clark"?

"Clark E. Tripe" had me at his self-deprecating intro, and didn't even have to say "hello". (Sorry for the obvious movie line reference...)

Yes, I suspect anagramming is involved somehow, too. ;)
