MEOW #100: Isn't It Ironic(ally Named)

A weekly meta crossword on the forum started by member Josh (aka madhatter5). These puzzles are often very creative with solving mechanisms out of the norm and skewing towards the more challenging. Puzzles are posted every Wednesday, and the solution appears the following Tuesday.

The cat is out. Clever one. A bit more straightforward than Ben's MOAT, which I am still flailing away on.

Solved, despite being confused when Vogon didn’t fit at 40A. (Sorry:)
If you want help with a meta, feel free to PM me. The more specific you are about what you have and what you want, the more likely I can help without spoiling.

(And if I help you win a mug, I’ll be especially delighted.)

Just an hour and a half after the first posting, but my cat has escaped as well. Refreshing after Tuesday's more complex MOAT.

Thanks, Ben. I was chasing a rabbit instead of a cat for a while, but cat's out now - very clever puzzle and fun grid to fill

I did make my way over from your WSJ post. The WSJ was so quick, I thought I'd try my first MEOW. But now I'm stuck. I like the grid tho!

Nudges, in order of increasing blatancy:

1. There are no hints given to you in the grid but there are 8 symmetrically-located entries that should stand out.

2. You might notice something amiss in the clues for these entries.

3. The clues for these entries contain a name has been misspelled.

4. The meta answer relates to the puzzle title and the Alanis Morissette song.
