On shore. Fun one.
A place to discuss the WSJ Weekly Crossword Contest and other "meta"-style crosswords

Fun looking crowd - even if it does seem like it is the cast picture for the newest "Knives Out" mystery!!!Bob cruise director wrote: Fri Jul 19, 2024 12:27 pm Good Friday morning muggles
First a great welcome to our newest muggles - @scrabbler , @JimmyC1004 , @ZazooD and @DeuceMTN . It is always great to have more muggles
So far we have 178 on the ship. And don't forget the 4:30 pm ET zoom call. Even if you have the meta, it is great to talk to other muggles. If you aren't on the shore it is a great way to get there.
And our muggle meet up in Natick was phenomenal last night. A great group of people and a lot of fun.
For @MaineMarge and others, here is the ID from the face shot
From left to right Eric Savage @ELSavage , Mrs Squawk (Kristen), @Mister Squawk (Ed), @Susan Goldberg , @DBMiller , @Commodore (Stu), Mrs Commodore (Sally), your cruise director, @Cap'n Rick, Mrs Cap'tn Rick (Erin) (in the pink blouse), @TeamDoubleTow (Ali) @whimsy (Claudia) and Mr. Whimsy Phil
And Isaac's picture in the back which drew a lot of stares from other customers as they walked by the room

Some of the very first albums that I bought myself were "Button Down Mind" and then "Button Down Mind on TV" (my first was a "Stan Freberg and the Original Cast" - my parents knew they had a problem on their hands). I still think "Tobacco Comes to Civilization" is one of the funniest things I ever heard.DannyWalter wrote: Fri Jul 19, 2024 1:37 amMy dad had a collection of comedy albums. Newhart, Adams, Cosby, others. A lot of it was topical humor that doesn't hold up, but much of it does. I remember the woman on the bus was one of my favorites. So much of stand up is timing and delivery; Newhart had that in spades. Bye Bob! Fare thee well.sharkicicles wrote: Thu Jul 18, 2024 11:05 pmBob was a favorite. Turns out my dad and Bob were born in the same hospital, about 11 years apart.SingleMalt wrote: Thu Jul 18, 2024 6:50 pm Ashore!
Not PAGE one but dammit DAY one should count for something!
RIP Bob Newhart! That Kilchoman isn't going to drink itself so just helped myself to a generous pour and cued up the Button-Down Mind. Maybe if I have a second glass, I'll get some Moo Goo Gai Pan for dinner. If you know, you know.....
(edit for factual data, 11 not 8)
Or a game of Clue? My first guess, Commodore, on the Lido deck, with harpoon.DrTom wrote: Fri Jul 19, 2024 1:07 pmFun looking crowd - even if it does seem like it is the cast picture for the newest "Knives Out" mystery!!!Bob cruise director wrote: Fri Jul 19, 2024 12:27 pm Good Friday morning muggles
