Good Sunday morning muggles

First is a warm (or wet depending on where you are) welcome to our newest muggle @Bobj

The struggling continues to find which four letter word to throw at Matt. We have 12 on the ship and 144 on the shore.

And before I get to the details, take a shot at today's SSS by Pair-O-Ducks/Schmidzy - very well done and solvable with minimal frustration

new to the ship's bar since yesterday are

ladybird
Deb
CallMeShane
ELSavage
Momo
Mamaneej

And new to the shore waiting for a cold drink are

Finally don't forget the Last Call Zoom session at 8 pm ET tonight for solving help and good conversation.

Reporting myself lost at sea. Just started working the meta this morning and have escaped two rabbit holes. Now searching for a more enlightened path. Isaac, another coffee her, please.
Good luck to all for a successful solve. If you see that I'm ashore - rare occasion of late - message me if you'd like a nudge. Be sure to include your progress so I can know better how to assist.

Ashore, pending confirmation that my credit card goes through with the cabana boy.

Thanks to @BarbaraK for confirming the path I was on. I really didn't have time for rabbit holes this weekend.
I can see why some consulted Mr. Google, but apparently my brain is filled with the right bits of trivia.

I will be curious, however, to see how people convinced themselves they had the right answer in the end.

Update: my money is good at the beach here. Seems like a good day for a classic gin & tonic.

Bespoke nudges available upon request (if I'm on shore, off the couch, in the castle, petting an un-bagged cat, ...).
Let me know how small or large a hint you want, or hit me with a specific question(s).

Toes in the water, a*s in the sand, not a care in the world, cold beer in my hand! Or something like that. Happy Sunday everybody.

Well, If you can put into words what a mechanism is and you then apply to the areas cold and it still works for all areas and yield a coherent answer, I figure it has to be correct. This meta was that. Nothing to convince yourself about.

Oh gee. I forgot to post Friday evening that I was ashore.

Ashore!

Relatively quick one after some noodling around the exact way to make it work.

Twas a busy week, what with jury duty service most of the week, and moving into a hotel for Thursday night due to an overnight power/water outage while a 13,000 volt switch was installed. Dinner out with a friend. Phillies game. Dinner with all the in-laws...

Man, retirement is tiring!

Well, I have a number of 4-letter words in mind. But since Matt said a few weeks ago that metas are NOT R-rated, I can't submit those! :D

After a week at the beach, I'm back on the lido deck. Tough summer so far.

A nice boat ride, going nowhere. No sight of sand. Hopeless frustration this week. But it's peaceful, and there was cantaloupe.

Ashore, but unable to shake that wet feeling in my feet. It has been a struggle with pieces that look good together but just don’t seem to fit snugly. Like a half-completed jigsaw puzzle that was left out in the rain. In the morning, the fog will clear. Life raft or sand dune – we’ll see . . .

First step. Check.
Second step. Check.
Third step. Not so much.
