Ashore. We are thankful for a relatively straightforward meta this week. We completely missed the target last week.

Late start, but still burrowed into dead ends - not even rabbit-holes - longer than I should have. Fun one! If I can elbow thru the masses, I'm looking to score a Last Word later this evening. Cheers!

@Bob cruise director, I have only the vaguest memory that the winning word was "uncontroversial." I'm surprised my mother didn't write it down for posterity!

I lost a spelling bee once because I misspelled Niagara. And, I was part of a team so I lost it for everyone. It scarred me forever.

Ashore. Took forever. Thanks for all of the comments about overthinking it. I had lots of little ideas that went nowhere and finally realized that they were too complex to be real.

I am ashore early on a Friday. Too bad St. Archer brewing is out of business, or I would take one of theirs for last week's puzzle.
