I went from seeing absolutely nothing to seeing everything all at once... love that! On shore =)

Ashore, and shocked at how difficult it was considering how easily part of it came to me. I'm a little surprised to be on shore at all, honestly.
Quibble with two of the clues (unrelated to the meta, just something I noticed when completing the grid): 47A and 62A both have the word "fail" in them. Isn't that a no-no for puzzle makers?

On the ship.

Finished the grid and saw Step 1 in about 10 minutes but none of my five shallow rabbit holes are going anywhere.

On the ship, but, having a good time. Hope to reach shore soon (try say that 3 times in a row).

On the shore of the Tiber River in the beautiful city of Rome! It’s a limoncello spritz for me.

I thought the no-no was having the same word in two grid entries or in a clue and a grid entry.
Puzzle makers sometimes use exactly the same clue for two different entries. That’s considered clever not taboo.

I thought they only did that when it was germane to the theme or something. Go figure.

Struggled with this one since Thursday at 4pm and went down so many rabbit holes. But finally made it to shore. Very clever.

Took a quick peek last night before our dinner guests arrived and the light bulb clicked on! Happy to be part of the shore party.

Still on the boat. I see what must be step one...but no progress beyond that, alas.

BarbaraK is correct, the no-no is having the same word as an answer twice, So "Drink at a bar" = SHOT and "Noise from the battlefield" = SHOT would be verboten, but "Shot for a for a beer" = WHISKEY and "Shot for a deer" = BUCK would be just fine (and darn near might show up some day!)
If the usage INTERFERES with the solve (i.e. tries to purposefully trick you away from the correct mechanism - for instance if the title of the meta had been "I Heard That") then the SHOT ones would probably be considered bad form if they were not part of the solve. At least that is this novice constructor's understanding. I could be wrong, it has happened at least once before.

Ashore, but not without the help of the April Fool birthday boy and his lovely wife. I was prepared for the Friday Zoom but was late due to an extended FaceTime with my eldest grandchild from college (Grandchildren take precedence over just about everything.) Arrived in time to say good bye to Bob and receive a nudge from two friends. (And couple more nudges later -- can't submit this week.) Harder than last week, but very clever. Learned something new. Thanks to my Muggle friends! Happy Weekend, Muggles!

Toes in the sand, drink in my hand. Thanks to the Muggle Zoom and a patient nudge from Wendy. Clever meta -- and I spent quite some time making this more complicated than needed. Happy weekend, Muggles!

On shore thanks to the amazing Muggles in the Zoom Room! There was too much noise and craziness in my house to do much more than lurk and listen today!
@patpatchica We do noise and craziness really well. Glad to have you at the call
