Ashore. I wasn't able to print it out, but thankfully I didn't need to this week.

So glad we don't have to randomly color squares in this week.

I'll have one of the 21 bottles of Pinot Noir I bottled today...
Wow... really?!? At first I thought you might be pulling our legs because I didn't think a home bottler could get the... (goes to google term) ...foil capsules around the bottle tops. But at least some of those bottles look like they've been recorked...

More details, SVP :)

No trade secret of the foil wraps. The cost between five to 20 cents each. You slide them on and dip the tips of the bottle into hot water and they shrink to fit.

What does this mean?
If you Google it, apparently it is an expression, but one I’d never heard of before
"Thank you, ma'am" is what you say when the jalopy lurches over a big bump in the road and you've got your kidneys and fillings returned to their proper locations. Heard it a lot as a boy in dirt-road country. Don't know where it comes from. Just rural idiom, I guess.

Ashore.
I was raised in the Colorado foothills that would wash out stream wide dips in our dirt roads and know that kidney adjust all too well… somehow that phrase never made it up above 7,000 feet I guess! We typically called it “oh $!47, I spilled my drink” as we fishtailed out of it and fought to keep a straight line through the surrounding washboard.

Cool! So I guess that's the easy part? Now about making the liquid that goes inside... do you grow your own grapes? Stomp them in a barrel? (I'm picturing Lucille Ball here, haha)

...and this is asked with utmost respect from someone who knows ZERO about the process. I am laughing only at my own ignorance on the subject.

Ashore. Grid was a challenge but the meta came quickly. Happy to have toes in sand. 🏖️

In the same boat (ha!) as @Mirage ... have the meta figured out but still working on the grid so I can submit. Is that like being on shore but without your wallet? :?:

Ashore. But I'm always worried when the first thing I try works... Makes me wonder if I'm on the wrong shore.

After last week's goose egg, I had to set this down and come back to it several times to be sure I wasn't being precipitous. Jane is still traveling so I'm on my own again this week and my wife has come down with covid, dividing my attention.

Thank goodness I replenished the Guinness inventory.

I buy what is essentially a bag of grape juice concentrate and I add water....

Okay, it's a specific grape juice concentrate specifically for making wine but there's still a feeling of "wait... how is this different than making kool-ade". It comes with envelopes of sawdust, clay, some liquefied goop made from lobster shells, and some potassium sulfate chemical that seems like if you misspell it it will kill you. And some powdered yeast that would make lousy tasting bread. So there is some work but you basically toss it all into a pickle bucket and leave it for four weeks. I haven't figured out any area for creative flair yet (this is only my third batch) but I have to admit it's been really really good so far.

Ashore, and already the best beach sites are taken. I think we’re gonna be as crowded as Tawas State Park campsite on a mid-summer weekend…
