Done and done, that was fun.

Side note--I use Firefox, and within the past month, I can't do the puzzles in that browser, due to their lack of support for Java. No biggie, figured I'd just do it on my iPhone X--slightly more cumbersome, but still, no biggie. On those rare occasions when I solve the meta, I found I can't submit an answer. I've tapped every menu, and can't find a place to submit an answer anywhere.

As such, I end up doing these puzzles in Edge, and (third time's the charm), no biggie. I'm far from a technophobe, having used laptops since 1994 and crunching sports data in a manner that is far from healthy, but I just find these little quirks odd. Nowhere near insurmountable, just odd.

Ashore. Didn't have a clue at first, but a second look some hours later led me down the right path.

Ashore. I must say I’m saddened by the understandable error in the clue for 45D. Would that it were so....

Fastest cruise ever. From boarding the ship to landing on the beach, about 10 minutes. Loved it, and the 100% feeling.

I found the website - they created an award in his name and he was the first recipient. Not in the HoF, but honored there.

Sounds like he was an amazing person, I didn't know about him prior to this puzzle and your posting, so thx much for the nudge to learn more.

I know. Kinda sad. Is it a speed thing? I simply don’t know how those guys can access information in the tiny recessses of their brains so fast. It’s amazing.

Brad was very good. Unfortunately the other two were out of this world.

Several things amazed me including the wide range of subject knowledge and how they could put the multipart answers together so fast.

Joe Poznanski’s “The Soul of Baseball” is something I read every offseason: it’s heartfelt without being syrupy, and a personal window into a fascinating life. If you want to learn more about Buck, it’s the perfect place to start.
