Just so you don't wind up like Marat. I hope you don't know anyone named Charlotte.

Grid and meta done. Like others, didn’t exactly feel an “aha” moment, but here I sit onshore, sipping an aperitif served by Cabana boy in a new Speedo. Cheers!
Plug here for the Monday Muggle Meta found in the Board Index under “other meta crosswords”. Great way to build your skill set. There are also nudges to help you along. Had much fun with this week’s offering by Al Sisti.

Very little doubt about this one. On shore!
Happy to give nudges. If you notice I've solved, please tell me about avenues you've explored so I can nudge you in the right direction and not off a cliff.

I see some obvious things but not sure how to connect them. Chugging along...

Grid was quick and fun, and I think I'm on to the answer, but it's not quite jumping out at me. SEEKING ANSWER!!

Quick grid and what seems to be a quick answer. I had a few choices, I hope I made the right one. At least if I fail I do so because I made the wrong decision, not that I could not find the darn mechanism. So, I will announce that I am ashore and hope I have chosen wisely.
NUDGES!I am always willing to give nudges where needed; metas should be about fun, not frustration. Send me what you have done so far because often you are closer than you think!

Grid complete and now trying to find a mechanism to provide that "AHA" moment for one of my two potential answers.

Enough of this Hide and Seek game.
I’m 99.99% ASHORE. As ashore as one could be with this guy. We’ll see if he had something else up his sleeve. Interesting and fun meta.
Now I’m out to the garden to seek some fall beauty here in the North Country. Not much seeking required here. This gal will knock your socks off from anywhere in the garden. As a young 5’ self sown maple, it was lost in this very spot amidst an overgrown lilac hedge when we moved here in 1979.

I struggle with some of these metaphors. (Took me three tries to spell "metaphor", too).

Interesting. Seemed straightforward enough to me, but the wifey pretty much "has it", yet doesn't seem to realize it. I have a theory. . .TeamDoubleTow wrote: ↑Thu Oct 07, 2021 6:12 pm We are on a shore. I would like things to be a little tighter but will probably submit what we have in a bit.

Completed grid and like others I have half the answer. And a theory as to the rest, but no support for it. I’ve cleared a space at Isaac’s bar. I might have to PM one of the experts to confirm my theory, but it’s only Friday for goodness’ sake!
