Done and on the "How did we get here?" beach.

Quick navigation to shore. Good, because the 34-D is a little frosty tonight.

There's a logic that you can follow in the grid that takes you to the answer.

How are you not 500 lbs?? 😂😂😂
I know, right? Is that a mountain of spaghetti next to some kind of parmigiana? Leftovers for 2 more nights, for sure.
Did I see some raccoon or possum in that mix?

a mountain of spaghetti next to some kind of parmigiana next to a petite but voracious Wendy!
Wendy, a local restaurant we love serves this dish. Listed on menu as "MESS".

Those don't seem like real numbers. I don't think standard thermometers go that low...
This is tonight at 9 pm. Tomorrow I may be able to send you one with a - in front of the number

So disappointed in solving this that it turned out not to be Hildegarde. (It's a generational thing. You haven't heard of her; I haven't heard of . . . Well, I have heard of the meta answer. I just wouldn't recognize anything from their oeuvre.)

To quote Bill Parcells "you are what you say you are"
I believe Coach Parcells said, "You are what your record says you are," in order to reject rationalizations along the lines of, "We were 6-10, but we lost four games by a total of six points, so we were really very close to being a playoff team." Such a situation, he said, doesn't signify that you're almost as good as the playoff teams; it means you're really bad in close games.

Raced through the grid and hit my usual wall on the meta.

Isaac, my mine a longboard.

Down to 76 here with a stiff breeze. I'll try to survive it. May need to put socks on for dinner though.

After trying to way over-complicate this, I googled a list of one-named singers and realized the answer was right there staring at me - more an oh, duh moment than an aha.

This weekend marks five years since my first meta submission. I recently found this in a dusty corner of my computer, originally posted four years ago on my first metaversary. Since I'm too lazy now to write a new one, thought I'd just share it again.

To All the Metas I’ve Loved Before

(based on: https://youtu.be/dAmrCiwNq-Y?t=10s)

To all the metas I've loved before

Including those I’ve struggled o’er

I'm glad they came along

I dedicate this song

To all the metas I've loved before

To all constructors who baffled me

Matt, Patrick, Peter, Todd, and “Marie”

For helping me to grow

I owe a lot, I know

To all constructors who baffled me

New meta will be out on Thursday

What kind of feeling will it bring

The ecstasy of TOO MUCH HEAVEN

Or the agony of sTINg

To all the nice folks on this blog

Participating in this dialog

Those at sea on the cruise

Those sharing their good news

Hope to see you on the blog mug log

It’s a year since my first meta, I see

So happy meta-anniversary

Looking forward to many more

Puzzles and puzzles galore

Joining all the metas I've loved before
