Got to the puzzle late on account of a long and arduous drive through Costa Rica. Upon first solve, was afflicted by vacation brain - but thought of the path during a brief wakeful period in the middle of the night (then had to resolve the grid on my phone to confirm that was correct!). The travails of a meta solver.

On the beach, figuratively and somewhat literally; day 2 of vacation just starting!

On shore with a significant nudge. Missed the forest because of the trees - again. Brought to mind a well known song.

I got ashore rather smoothly this morning. After bumbling and stumbling on the mgwcc earlier this week, it was a welcomed result. Have a great weekend all!

At sea. See an obvious thing, but can't do anything with it yet.

Was stuck for quite a while on this, but saw the light right before bedtime last night. Happy New Year to all Muggles, and I hope you have a mug in your 2024 future!

Solved and onshore, with a coffee since it is still morning. It took an aha moment for the first step but we finally saw it, then the next part came pretty quickly. Good puzzle and five solutions in a row--getting better with all the time and work and zoom rooms, including rabbit hole stories.

Relied on flotation device until I remembered my undergraduate days. Happy new year all.
Did anyone notice a different meta move which provided 4 out of the 5 letters?

On the beach. Typing out a plea for help convinced me that I was on the correct path. I just needed to follow it further.

Was visiting the littles so did not get to this until today but nice diversion on a long car ride. I'm ashore, though it took a while to put it together even though I saw what i needed to see right away.

Happy New Year all! Stay well

After 18 months or so of learning how to do this, working meticulously through the WSJ Contest Crossword 101, riding the struggle bus, often trying so many rabbit holes we didn't even know how to articulate everything we had tried in order to ask for help, and a few times very confidently submitting WRONG answers, December 2023 has been a good month for us! Solving on our own feels really good! :D

On the beach! Had a Eureka moment in the shower, but still had some work to do to finish the swim. Good one!

Was hoping for 3 in a row. Isaac is giving me the side eye that he’s saving me a seat. I’m ignoring him for now. 🙄😬
