Whew!
RIchard E. did NOT go easy on us this time. I got it, but it took quite some bit of synonym checking and anagram scrambling online.
But I’m not complaining. A very involving puzzle!

I just picked this up today (so happy my Harpers magazine is arriving in the correct month again!). I filled in two faces pretty quickly, but can see that the rest are going to be a challenge. I'm sorry I ever complained that these were getting too easy!
Edited to add: OK, that wasn’t so bad, though there were three entries I’ve never heard of (and nothing marked as uncommon). Still a fun puzzzle!

Very standard Harper’s puzzle for me. Intimidating at first, then engaging over multiple sittings through the satisfaction of a total solve. Really enjoyed this one from the maestro.
