OK, I’m game:
Solved the meta as quick as a wink
Said the man as he sipped on his drink
My knowledge’s alarming
I’m tall, handsome, and charming
A Pageant, at this point, would stink

The actor in the photo is Richard Kiel, who also played "Jaws" in a couple of James Bond films.Bob cruise director wrote: Sat Nov 09, 2019 1:05 pmI remember that Twilight Zone episode very wellTom Shea wrote: Sat Nov 09, 2019 9:56 am "To Serve Man"
It's a COOKBOOK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
(Apologies, I can't figure out how to resize the photo.)
(P.S., I'm hanging with Isaac for a while. I can't bring myself to think it is really that simple of a solve from that evil mastermind, Dr. Gaffney.)

just picked up yesterday's paper (was at a conference this past week), haven't finished all of the grid, but am already on the beach, enjoying a cold drink.
second puzzle for me, much easier than last week's.

There was a young woman named Bunny
Who thought all the limericks were funny
Said she with a shrug
We all want the mug
We're sure not here for the money.

WOW - I did not realize that was Richard Kiel -over 7 feet tall as I recall. If it is not that simple, there will be a lot of gnashing of teeth on MondayTom Shea wrote: Sat Nov 09, 2019 1:44 pmThe actor in the photo is Richard Kiel, who also played "Jaws" in a couple of James Bond films.Bob cruise director wrote: Sat Nov 09, 2019 1:05 pmI remember that Twilight Zone episode very wellTom Shea wrote: Sat Nov 09, 2019 9:56 am "To Serve Man"

Well you KNOW I have to jump in here, never let a perfect limerick moment go to waste:
I sit here with both fear and glee
I solver this week’s meta 1-2-3
But I stare at the grid
Where the answer was hid
And worry about pageantry
By the way LOVED the Limerick Airport cartoon. My wife called from the other room, “WHAT are you laughing at?”
Still haven't submitted because everything fits except for one nagging difference from every other Meta of this type Mr. Gaffney has issued. Now I have to decide is the difference the trick or does it indicate that there are a group of beauty contestants waiting in the wings. I have at least two other logical answers but both of them require too many "IF THEN BUT" considerations and I do not want to get bitten by or in the BUT.

NUDGES!I am always willing to give nudges IF ASKED; metas should be about fun, not frustration. PM me what you have done so far, because often you are closer than you think, and I will try to help you move along.

Like many, the obvious seemed way too squeezy, so I'm keeping Isaac company until tomorrow. Then I'll have to submit something

I’m pretty new at this, so hopefully this one is as straightforward as it seemed. Pretty sure I’m on the beach.

Okay, here's my foray.
Solving metas 'tout suite' is a blast,
But speed kills, someone said in the past.
As I heard from my exes,
“Well thing about sex is
He may not be good, but he’s fast.”

We also have four new muggles and a returnee. KTWhitaker is back and boharr, anjhinz, Ronald and LaceyK have joined the crowded shore.
So far we have KTWhitaker keeping Isaac company and 115 muggles on the shore and a whole bunch of limericks.
On shore we have....
Good luck to all winning the mug
Who always does a great job!
tho I seem to be missed
from your on-the-shore list
How could anyone count this huge mob?

Why not? Here's my offering-
To solve the weekly meta all the Muggles are intent,
fearful though that this squeezy-looking one could be yet another pageant,
but they press on,
and come Monday dawn,
to someone (else) the prized mug will soon be sent.

Attention Muggles, both ashore and at sea: if you haven't seen the Saturday WSJ crossword puzzle, you might want to take a look. It's a meta of sorts, a joint effort of David Plotkin and Jeff Chen titled "Metamorphosis". Apologies for this slightly off-topic post ... we now return to our regularly scheduled programming.

And when you get done step back and you will see a great pattern especially if you highlight the circles.GlennP wrote: Sat Nov 09, 2019 5:23 pm Attention Muggles, both ashore and at sea: if you haven't seen the Saturday WSJ crossword puzzle, you might want to take a look. I'm on shore too - forgot to post or just lost in the crowd.
There is something in my answer to this meta that breaks one of the "rules" of metas. But that's just a reminder of meta rule #1 - there are no rules with metas. The things we think of as rules are just true most of the time. There will be exceptions to all of them. In fact, I wouldn't be surprised if Matt reads our list of tips and sets out to write metas that violate our "rules".
(I tried to put that in the form of a limerick but couldn't make it work. Love seeing all the muggle poets this week - a great use of the extra time from an easier meta.)

That's all I can stands I can stands no more...I'm going to jump into the rather large part on shore and post my answer even though I am going to be sooo mad when someone reveals the REAL answer and I go DUH! But I think I'll be in good company with head slaps if and when that happens so what the heck. go bold or go home.
Count me ashore please.

(To "Sound of silence...")
"Hello cabana, my old friend,
So pleased to be with you again.
I know the last weeks have all been quite tough!
That dratted Gaffney, man, I've had enough!!
But, Ohh...that "Ah-ha" moment's silent song...
...it strings me along...
So here I am--defiant!!"
Calling it Level 2 on the scale, but grateful, after a dry spell...

I don’t know how many here do the Saturday WSJ puzzle, but I thought that this week’s, by David Plotkin and Jeff Chen, was particularly well done and interesting.
