Okay, I know when I'm beat. Would love a nudge!

EDIT: Got it thanks to a kind nudge. I was on the right track but managed to go offroad and needed a tow. I won't be submitting but best of luck to those who do!

Still at sea with this one, but enjoying a Yankees walk-off win. Also, mucho kudos to Miguel Cabrera on getting his 3000th hit; rarefied air for sure. Oh, and one more thing about Cabrera:

Old Fashioned with Piggy Back rye tonight.
Still pondering. Maybe another Old Fashioned tonight will help.

I have a drink when I am at sea. I have a celebratory drink when I solve. Any excuse to drink works for me.

I'm washed up on shore by a strong nudge from someone whose approach is much more systematic and methodical than mine. (I hope that's not a spoiler. I didn't think that CP Johnson's was a spoiler. I also don't agree with those who find this one to lack orderliness or elegance.)

Hanging with Isaac. Will continue to mull it over. But happy to be able to share a Guinness and talk baseball with Al!

After morning coffee, I found my way to shore. A little bit of a foggy trip. Had another answer that fit, but this one is a definite.

"Quo usque tandem abutere, Gaffney, patientia nostra?" Flashbacks from 7 years of latin - I have an answer which makes perfect sense from a mechanism that did not flush out every letter I was looking for, but enough to lead me there. Let's say that I am at an interim beach, time will tell whether or not it's the right one. Three Moscow mules, I deserve them.

Every week I start with a nice fresh piece of blank paper on which I write all the clues I find as I search for a solution. This week's paper will serve nicely, as it remains fresh and blank, for next week's work. Totally lost not only at sea but also on the boat. Not a clue for anything. I think I'll go have some ice cream.

And on the beach. Stumbled over myself on this one - had the idea, but took awhile to figure out the rest of the mechanism.
