On the beach! With assistance from a work colleague! Cool puzzle.
Check out "The MOAT Mini Pack of Marching Bands" here. US$5 gets you 7 Marching Bands which, hard enough on their own, now contain metas too. And once again there's a mega-meta! :D

Ashore!

I made a few mistakes along the way, but was able to get back on track.

Got a pretty quick start towards shore, but my anchor seems to have dropped of its own accord and snagged on the bottom. Struggling to get myself free and continue the journey.

@Meg I hope you are not looking for sympathy. We had -4 last night and 2 feet of snow is coming on Saturday

I am with you SCOTT. Paddling madly along. Then the hole in my wetsuit started filling with water

On shore. Wow, some tricky parts (for me, anyway) in the grid, but a satisfying solve! Enjoyed this one!

On the one hand, if you are talking about a STUPID American, chances are quite good that he's from Florida. On the other hand I took my puppy, Gracie, for a walk in 65° sunshine this afternoon. There’s a balance to everything!

Late start but on the shore.
If you like Rows Gardens check out my mini ones here: viewforum.php?f=41. Nudges are free on the off chance I’ve solved the meta.

On the beach, although it's too cold for sunbathing. But a glass of wine would go nicely right about now.

Page 1????

No...

The wife came home for lunch and said "Let's play the bird game" and when the wife says "Let's play the bird game" we play the bird game. (At least, not unless I can say "I'm just two minutes from solving this puzzle...." which... as it turns out I could have said but at the time I didn't know I could say it.)
