#706 - “Happy Early New Year!”

An excellent puzzle written by one of the innovators of the meta crossword format. It comes out every Friday at noon and increases in difficulty throughout the month. Available for modest subscription (worth every cent) here: www.xwordcontest.com

Beamed up on one of these “cloud streets” today. That was a fun 12 letter find.

Beamed up for the first time, with the help of a step stool.

After various vacation delays, and somehow avoiding trying the obvious thing, I am finally beamed up. This was a very clever one that made me smile.

Hmm....

Funny after trying many ways to interpret things but all with the same idea I got nothing and then the next morning I tried one more way with the exact same idea and got the a very unambiguous answer.

This is cute but dang if it don't make me feel old.
Funny story. I was all set to enter Par for the course for the CrossHare midi contest for April but I mistakenly thought midi meant 7x 7 and not 11 x 11. Oops. Well.... Here's a complex but **small** meta on the subject of golf.

Beamed up. I enjoy ones like this where I get the first step on Friday and get the rest later in the weekend.

I think this puzzle had to be a lot harder to construct than to solve.

Several wrong conclusions into the solution (there are a lot of 12 letter phrases) that were nixed by a muggle angel I saw the obvious path (only a part of which I had noticed earlier). Sometimes I am SO dumb, but even though away at relatives I am also beamed up. :D

OMG I’m guessing your friend was sued by either Ed McMahon or Barbara Streisand!!!

A couple of weeks ago, I dismissed the suggestion Matt-Mike conspiracy -- I think it was about levels of difficulty. But this week, I think there might be something to it.

Well, after trying to turn a week 2 into a week 5, I finally settled down and thought it must be more straightforward. And it was. I think Scottie needs more dilithium crystals to power up the teleporter since so many have used it in the last 30 hours . . .

Happy Early New Year, from the slowest solver this week. I missed four clues, so couldn’t put together a 12-letter activity, only an 8-letter nonsense word. Not confirmed, but I’m pretty sure it’s correct.

So who sued your friend’s cult and why?
