Do "nudged" solvers get to submit?
I think the consensus is it's between you and your conscience.

I think I'll stay on the ship this weekend. Nice weather for a cruise, and Isaac's bar is the place to be.

Okay, a joke that didn't work. I'll go sit in the corner.

To use a baseball analogy: It would be like bunting to break up a no hitter in the ninth inning. You might succeed, but expect to face some scorn.

Coming down to the wire and still hopelessly adrift. Any nudges are welcome.

Won't submit, but firmly on shore thanks to a friendly muggle and a push beyond what I already had.

Time to declare myself on the ship. Many notes on my paper but not leading me to the shore.

On the beach with a nudge! Great puzzle...don't think I would've gotten there without a push. No mug for me!

Dragged ashore buy a very wise and patient muggle.

In other news I may be muggle cursed. Since I actually joined the forum I haven’t been able to solve a single puzzle.

The October puzzles were very hard. Some have referred to it as "Blocktober."

Of course you can submit. Why do you think no one reveals their real name here? It's because when they announce the winner, people won't be able to identify the beneficiary of a nudge!!!!! :)
Ship4, I respectfully disagree. To quote C.S Lewis, “Integrity is doing the right thing, even when no one is watching.” You can think otherwise, but at least please do not promote it.

WSJ doesn’t care, and it’s their contest.

There’s a huge range between “yes, you did everything right, that’s it,” and “the answer is clown and here’s why”. Exactly where in there you feel like you solved it and are ‘entitled’ to submit is a personal decision. And whatever you decide, someone will think you’re wrong.

One thing I’ve never seen on this subject is anything resembling consensus:)

LAS and throwing in the towel. I think I have an idea of where to start, but no more time to devote to this. Congrats to the solo solvers!

For what it's worth, I don't care how anyone chooses to "play" this game.

So far I haven't even found even the slightest toehold to be able to begin my climb. It looks like it's one I have no chance of solving
