Aha. Putting down a finished grid and picking it back up a day later does wonders. Count me on shore, Robert. Happy to be among the celebrants. Have a good weekend, all.

Anyone else that's submitted a bad answer (I've submitted - email your answer to verify) is invited to our island's Pity Party, a la Día de Muertos, all weekend.

Bob, may we borrow your truck & re-wrap it with the Cuervo label?

Had a little trouble with the grid but got the meta quickly the second time I looked at it.

Thought this was a real good one.

I will have a Stone IPA. Also enjoyed the Eagles win.

On shore. Not well-known to me, but it fits the title and clues.

Awakened from a deep Guinness snooze to wonder where all of the happy muggles are, only to realize I've landed on a much smaller island, most-likely alone, with the exception of this bone & head, unless it's a mirror. Having submitted, I am too far to swim to safety & have sent the ferry away.

Cruise Director Bob: Remove me from the scrolls of those properly beached, please. I am not worthy.
Ouch!!! I've been on that island way too many times. Which is one reason I've been holding off on planting my beach chair in the sand. Though the longer I think about the answer I have, the more I like it. (Translation: I'm not thinking of anything else) So Bob, count me on shore. I'm pulling the trigger.

Thank you, Bob!

Ummm… There's a lot of sand & a palm tree, or three... My golfing GPS & map apps are having trouble with coordinates. Does anyone have the longitude & latitude - or even a zip code - for The Island of Misfit Toys?

I started doing these Crossword Contests in January of this year. At first I only got the solution sometimes. Starting with the first one in April, I haven't been lost at sea. As this is the final puzzle of September, it makes 6 months in a row. I'm considering subscribing to MGWCC or trying PGWCC for more of a challenge.
Also ashore! As with Eric, excited to see our Alma Mater in a clue (EE1977 and EE1980). Three in a row, and 6 out of the last 7! Finally getting a sense of how the metas work!

Inca wrote: Fri Sep 27, 2019 12:07 am As soon as I saw the clues, it seemed fairly obvious what was going on. (It seems that lately that's my method with metas: either see a pathway right away or just never see it.) But in going on to the next step there seemed to be a bit of inconsistency that bothers me a bit and it bothers me even more that no one else seems to be bothered by it. That makes me feel that maybe I'm wrong. But what I found cannot be a coincidence and it would be a huge amount of work for Matt just to put it in as a red herring. So, I've decided that my answer is right. Maybe I'm just missing some step that would make it all tie up nicer....or maybe it is good as is.
Wow, I 'm really rambling and can't seem to find the words to express myself clearly. I'll just leave it as: I pretty sure I'm on shore.
The one thing that I first saw as an inconsistency I later realized was actually appropriate.

🏖🥂
Agreed, was actually quite elegant.
Please explain the elegant-ness after the deadline. Thanks.

Well I have to agree with the inconsistency part. it really bothers me because I have never seen that type of thing before, the answer is usually determined in a consistent manner. That certainly makes what seems like a perfectly reasonable (fits the clues, fits the title) answer seem perfectly unreasonable. I WANT to post my answer but I guess I will solve it a few more times looking to resolve my dilemma before pulling the trigger.

So, I am in the boat, ready to push off, but I have my oars out of the water as yet.
NUDGES!I am always willing to give nudges IF ASKED; metas should be about fun, not frustration. PM me what you have done so far, because often you are closer than you think, and I will try to help you move along.
