Bob, one of these Tuesdays you'll have to hear a certain joke, part of what we like to call The Irish Trilogy.

And on that subject --
Looks like this one's just not gonna open for me this week --

9/24 - 3.5

Note: I don't always recheck it after the last post, though it's less likely that enough ratings will come in to materially change it.

:ugeek:
That explains why my solving streak ended with that one!

Me too. I've been enjoying the amenities on this boat since Thursday afternoon, but we're running out of olives.
I don't have anything clever to say, but if I did, it would go here.

Well, someone took pity on the poor dehydrated bunny and handed over a non-opposable-thumb-operated churchkey.
And so -- ASHORE -- by a hare --

Gaaack! Suffice it to say, there's no way I was getting that, even having cracked the basic clue to the mechanism (removal of vowels connected to the four theme words)... Tip of the hat to all the folks who got it!

Well, did not come close to getting this one and after reading the steps to get the answer, I can't believe it was only rated 3 stars. Congrats to all that got this!

Ugh, I was too distracted by the shiny coincidence of DUM(BS)TRUCK -> DUM(P)TRUCK.

It was pointed out to me that as a Hebrew speaker, I may have had a slight advantage solving this puzzle - I'm used to seeing vowels that aren't indicated!

"This puzzle's fives" threw me off - I had no idea what that meant.

I put together that there were four long answers with a four letter solution and then discovered the strings of five consonants - "the fives".

Very hard until that "AHA" moment.

Great meta construction but very tricky!

Until I was rescued with a big shove a short while ago, my dead horse was to keep looking at the squares with 5s in them. By inserting the vowels that they'd lost, I could create some fragments, that although interesting, got me nowhere. Unless of course there's a 4-letter word for S-O-C-I-E-T-Y C-O-Y-O-T-E T-E-A-M.
