I technically beat Dom to shore, but he provided the needed confidence boost to get me to 100%. So Dad and son are on shore. Have a great weekend all!

On shore, after completely overthinking last week's meta.

Finished grid, quickly assembled the clues, saw the gimmick, and then... got stuck. I'll have to look it over again. Isaac, I haven't seen you in weeks! Pour me a good measure of that Guiness, please.

Been a long spell sans any 25-A. Friday night at the Tiki Lounge never looked better. Bob, I will enjoy the company of your tractor-trailer. Hmmm, button below says "Save Draft". Don't think I shall.

It worked for me last week, so I’m going to “put it out there” again.
I SEE it. I just don’t know what to DO with it!

Hello! Longtime lurker on wsj blog and now this board. I have done crosswords for ages, but always ignored the contest until a few years ago when one of them jumped out at me (the answer was BLT). I am not great with these, but I am on shore this week (got last week also - two in a row is unheard of for me)!

Anyway, I am just waiting to win that mug and the glory that goes with it!

Nice to see all the additions to Muggle-dom since BMac set this board up. Once again many thanks to BMac and Cruise Director Bob for all their work corralling the cats.

I am still hanging with Isaac. See the first step, but lost on how to proceed. Had martini last night with a Guinness chaser (mis-pour that I gladly accepted). Even another martini tonight didn't do the trick. Isaac is pouring Irony Cab for dinner tonight. Weather forecast is so nice, I don't know that I'll return for more rabbit-holing this weekend. The travails of first world existence.

Welcome to the land of the muggles. I gather from your lurking that you are familiar with our in comments. If not, either check under Come Aboard/FAQ-Community or feel free to ask. We are more than willing to help.

There are also some good hints for solving these challenges in the FAQ-Community page.

Most of us have stumbled and will stumble as there is a knack for getting them. Each constructor has his own style which is what keeps making these challenging.

Congratulations on getting this one. Good luck winning the elusive mug. And, by the way, it is your round at the tiki bar.

After some time trying to figure it out, I'm finally onshore! Yay!

The Cruise Director's advice to Olaf to check the FAQ-Community page helped me have a breakthrough. Thanks, Bob!

Check out my profile pic. I love it. My best friend bought it for me. It is how the meta sometimes makes me feel.

Done and. . . done, though my trip to shore was delayed by the need to clear my browser history and cache before emailing in the answer. Many thanks to our cruise director for faithfully posting the link to this muggle blog each week!

Thanks for the welcomes! I have seen some of the terms used on this forum, but what does it mean to be my turn at tiki hut?

I’ll check out the faqs. I usually don’t spend too much time trying to get the puzzles. If it doesn’t come pretty squeezily, then I give up! So usually when I get one, it is the easier kind with lots of correct answers! Maybe with some tips I ca up my game!

Welcome Olaf! Don’t underestimate your ability to find the meta. You just have to think sideways. Alcohol helps. Hence the tiki bar reference. Isaac is on the ship. Lovely cabana boys are on the beach. Neither Isaac nor the cabana boys know or care about metas.
