I was going to (Dots in the theater, Swedish Fish at home) but I was afraid of being thought elitist. On the other hand, that might be an improvement over my current rep (bad poet and loudmouth who’s bad at metas, lol).SingleMalt wrote: ↑Sun Aug 29, 2021 10:15 pmHas anyone mentioned Sweedish Fish yet?
Twice I changed theatre to theater for the same reason, but I wrote theatre first, and I’m a (native) American, so to speak, not a Brit. Any linguists or sociologists in the house?

For the sake of our statistics, count me ashore.

Hugglety, mugglety,
Where does the time go, while
Pondering puzzles by
Gaffney and Shenk?
Sometimes solutions seem
Unascertainable!
’Til I have found one, I
Can’t sleep a wenk.
Fortunately, that was not the case this week! Here's to the record-setting crowd on the Muggles shore, the well-being of those on our Gulf shores, and the occasionally slack-cutting puzzle gods!

Egads, Heidi! Why not?
(Because when you throw them they can land on someones head or shoulders without them noticing? Only good reason this city girl can come up with).

I announced my arrival right after your previous count but maybe it got lost in the throng. I am happy to be part of a record setting storming of the beach this week.Bob cruise director wrote: ↑Sun Aug 29, 2021 8:36 pm A little early "final" report. When we are close to a record, I check Monday to see any late arrivals on the shore.
We have 252 on the shore at present - I will give a final count tomorrow
Since noon, several muggles have gotten to shore - most were there but hiding
The latest on shore are
Ben B and son
Peter
ZooAnimalsOnWheels
KscX
Janet P
OGuyDave
martimeryard
Thurman8er
Lyman
periperi
David Wa
Ann
Shirley
Stay safe especially those in Ida's path. The only impact on us in NE is that my Thursday golf is going to get rained out.

It’s popcorn always without that strange yellow additive. Occasionally a box of milk duds too for the caramel corn effect.

What?! No midnight golf? #onmybucketlist #dinosaurstillusing#sErgcat wrote: ↑Sun Aug 29, 2021 5:01 pmProbably not. Not enough time in the itinerary! The hike to the volcano is pretty steep in places, a round trip hike takes about 4 hrs and the volcano has been active sometimes/and quiet sometimes lately. We had thought about a helicopter tour of it but they are all booked. We will be doing glacier, ice cave and lava tube hikes, a whale watching tour, and a couple of geothermal pools. We’ll be busy doing the entire ring road in 8 days!Bob cruise director wrote: ↑Sat Aug 28, 2021 5:17 pmGreat place to go. Will you go down to the volcano?

Checking in at (literally) the 11th hour to say I'm ashore for the first time in weeks! Life has been hectic, but it was nice to relax with a puzzle this weekend that I was able to crack.
Cheers!

Just not into sugar. But I do like Junior Mints. Just one though.

I am really upset. I was looking for a movie title with "Thread" in it, but the list of nominees for Best Picture that I looked up online did not include this title in its list. I wasted several fruitless hours trying to figure out a different answer, I don't know why this title was missing, but I suppose there's always next week.

C'mon, I stayed up until midnight this week because I'm in NH. I'm usually checking the answer at 9PM Pacific.

I must have looked at the same list. My son then told me about Phantom Thread. I checked another list and there it was.ReB wrote: ↑Mon Aug 30, 2021 12:09 am I am really upset. Same issue as @ReB and @Richard. I’m guessing we were all looking at the IMDB list of best picture nominees by year which managed to omit this movie. Banged my head against this one all weekend. Was wondering why everyone thought it was such an easy solve. Grr!!!

BTW, though the first step of the solve was pretty straightforward, it certainly helped to have seen the movie.

I specified what I had in the search..."best picture nominee thread" and my first result was a story on the film. I'd never heard if it either.
ETA If you search "best picture nominee 2010-2019" it's 69 on IMDB's list as well.
I've learned after way too many list scrolls to specify and try and save my eyes, lol.
