Well, Iโve submitted. I feel pretty good about my answer. A lovely mechanism, discovered while watching men ride bicycles up green mountains in France (the Tour de France). So beautiful and so painful. Well it would be if I tried to do that. But I digress. Great puzzle!
Edit: and we have confirmation.

I knew what the answer had to be - the path to get there was very clever!

On the late side with this --
or possibly on the early side for nudge day, since I'm offering no disclaimer this time....

Tried to overcomplicate this one several different ways.
A generous reminder / nudge helped me focus where I should have focused.

Now where did that @#$%&*! cat go this time?
Very cool!
My compliments to Josh and Peter!
I believe you're correct in re-rating this one to a Puma. I needed a fairly firm nudge. (Though if the answer had occurred to me right off, as a possibility, like it did for some, I'd likely have been able to work myself back down the path.)

No joy yet this week. But have scrolled through a few old ones, so now at least I understand the purpose of that list of cats

I solved the grid with the speed of a cheetah but the meta eludes me. I think I can guess the answer but I can't find my way to it. As it is 14:40 in my household, the cats are in various indecent positions of napping and are not being helpful with the meta.

Have looked at this 10 times with no AHA moment. Hoping to crack the code with a Sat. nudge.

I believe I've got it. If so, my WAG was correct! Thanks to boharr for the nudge - wouldn't have got the mechanism without it.
ETA: yep, my first/WAG ended up being correct - hooray!
