"A Sail of Two Cities" - June 18, 2021

Post by Joe Ross »

(Filling in for @Bob cruise director at his request.)

This week's contest is titled "A Sail of Two Cities" by Matt Gaffney.

The answer to this week's contest is a five-letter word.

Best luck to all!

A few more details on the Q&A with Matt Gaffney on June 29. All information on the Q&A are on Come Aboard/FAQ Solving Resources

1) The Q&A will be recorded and will be made available to everyone soon after the 29th

2) The link to the session will be available to muggles after June 17th

3) A good suggestion came out of our Tuesday zoom link. Matt is going to pick out one of his favorite MGWCC's from the past and we will post it here for everyone to do so we can use that during the Q&A to discuss various aspects of creating a meta.

Let Bob know if you have any questions about the Q&A, or zoom.

Friday, 8:10 AM, update on Excel form: Apologies for previous link which left the form able to be edited. That was my mistake. The above link must be saved to drive before it can be edited. A muggle with the initials 'KS" was editing the shared version 8 hours ago. Again, my apologies! PM me to discuss if you wish. Joe

Solved. Clever. Reminds me of a Gaffney puzzles from several years ago.

On shore!

I WOuld never have been able to figure this out a year ago--the ODDs would not have been in my favor. I got lUCKy by dodging those darn rabbit holes this week. We're going to dinner with friends tonight--I'm planning on having a Two Brothers Ebel's Weiss beer.

Got it with a backsolve after going off on a slightly wrong directions. Very clever and educational.

On the beach! 🏖 🍷

Loved it!

Done and dusted! Great puzzle! Wife has a hankering for wheat beer, so we’ll have Blue Moons on the deck.

Ashore and resolved not to say the obvious. It took me a couple of minutes to remember this mechanism, which for relative newcomers may be unfamiliar, unintuitive, and hard to find.

{Also, please note: I am NOT reserving a space on page one for a solver who is usually here but who has instead been Shanghaied into baker/host labor aboard some puzzleless vessel.)
