On shore. Second week where I saw it relatively quickly. (Still working my way through the old ones for practice.)

Solved, or I guess it's Ashore!

New to the forum here but I'm surprised at the difficulty rating for this one as it's one of the easier ones for me yet last week's I really struggled with. Makes me think I'm missing something...

Would someone who's confident in their answer mind messaging me so I can confirm?

There's a lot a variation in how difficult different people find a meta. Even the hardest ones will just happen to be the first thing someone tries, and that person will assume it's easy. And even those that most find easy will land in someone's blind spot.

You're welcome to PM me to discuss it. Glad you've joined us here on the forum.

Thanks BarbaraK. boharr kindly confirmed and turned me onto the extra little bit of "elegance" in the answer.

First time on the beach! I think this was the third one I tried. I stared at it for a long time, and suddenly it just came to me. I chuckled for a minute, and am still smiling as I write this. Way cool!

It's Troegs Perpetual I will be cracking as the sun goes down.

Safely on shore. Cute one! Early for a drink but looking forward to Mojito later!

Ashore... I also feel like I'm missing a step. However, still feel comfortable with toes in the sand.

Edit: After a second look, full meta found. Excellent!

Uh oh. They are getting harder. I did the grid today, but no
Idea what the meta is yet. This may be one that I have to sleep on.

Hey there, I’m a longtime MGWCC solver but just discovering the WSJ meta puzzles... 2 questions... Do I need a subscription and is there a leaderboard? Thanks!

Edit: answered, thanks! :D

No subscription needed. No leaderboard either. They post the solution after the deadline below the Monday puzzle. And Welcome!

On shore, but only after swimming in the wrong direction chasing a red herring. (At least one other muggle was right beside me in that chase, spear at the ready.)

The lightbulb finally came on! I'm firmly planted on the beach, about to take an afternoon stroll with my better half.

Ashore. I suspect we'll have another non-compliant number of people at the gathering this week. Cheers to all!

This week was an object-lesson for me in how easy it is to become fixated on the very first "thing" you see. I needed some help from fellow Muggles to get past the big fat red herring that Matt was serving up (it HAD to be deliberate), but I am on shore nonetheless.
Good luck, fellow Muggles!

A little trickier than recent metas but solved with the help of my American wife!

I believe I am ashore. I'm lying on the sunny sand with a paperback and a mini umbrella in my cocktail.

Thank you, my friend! I think my brain must have been worn out from Al's MMM. It didn't help that we spent Thursday playing hooky and going on a road trip. When I got home I had to catch up on <small type> work.
