Finished the grid late in the afternoon. Then went out for dinner with friends. (Good gosh, I actually stole some quick glances at the grid during dinner. They’re very understanding friends!)
Came home and...nothing. Crickets. 12:20 early Friday morning, I try one more time before hitting the sack. After doing some highlighting on the grid, I have the AHA moment. The weekend is mine!

What is this "out to dinner with friends" you speak of? Are there people and places outside these four walls I've been looking at for the last 11 months?JeanneC wrote: ↑Fri Jan 29, 2021 12:54 am Finished the grid late in the afternoon. Cruise Director Bob,
Is that you or Bobby Cochran on the long boards? Slaloming at Nashoba? Tuning up for the Sapporo Olympics? Leather boots and safety strap days?

Love the pic.

“On shore!” he said,
And it was true!
At long last on the beach!!
For weeks he’d failed,
And groaned, and wailed:
“This Meta’s out of reach!”
But finally, cabana-bound,
I know it in my gut.
As said, it happens now and then:

On shore. I think. I agree with the comments on the odd logic of the mechanism. It also doesn't help that I was unfamiliar with the singer, but then again, this won't be the last time I consult the internet to check an answer.

That was me taking a picture of a high school boy competing in the state championships at Wachusett

On what's sure to be the most crowded shore of all time. Have a great weekend!

It was a LOT of food! I took about half of it home. Floga Bistro, Kennett Square, PA. I normally avoid pasta, but there's some sentiment involved here: whenever we'd eat here with my parents, Dad wouldn't even look at the menu, he'd just order the "chicken parm." So these carbs are for you, Dad!grwinski wrote: ↑Thu Jan 28, 2021 7:14 pmWow, Wendy! That's either a huge plate or you are exceptionally petite! I want to know the restaurant so I can frequent if ever in the area (and location!).Wendy Walker wrote: ↑Thu Jan 28, 2021 6:26 pm Out to dinner and celebrating a quick solve! Good luck, fellow Muggles!
