The real enigma is whether she thought of handing him the nickel he needed to get off the train, and if so why she decided against it.

Mine were as well, that is, until they were thrown out . . . . .ChrisKochmanski wrote: ↑Mon Jan 18, 2021 7:12 pm Off the couch!

Sandwiches which were handed too him through an open window every day at a quarter past two.
EDIT: Well I see I am late to this lunch party, guess I only read the first page. I am sure that is because I am not moving past first base with this one.

I believe I am off the couch (though Lord knows I should be on it!). It was NOT easy to get off but with some diligent, and thirsty, work I finally swung my feet to the floor. Of course it was then immediately taken over by all the cats from the MEOW puzzle.
So awaiting confirmation but I think I am firmly up and about.NUDGES!I am always willing to give nudges where needed; metas should be about fun, not frustration. Send me what you have done so far because often you are closer than you think!

What no Salems? Oh well any Newport in a storm, I guess I was just Lucky. I was going Pall Mall trying to finish on time to discuss it tonight if it came up and I managed. Well you know how it goes, Winston, lose some. At least it didn't take an act of Parliment. I was all set to give it up because it was making me crazy (indeed hard to tell, but there are titers I can take) but decided, NO, I'd rather fight than switch!Al Sisti wrote: ↑Tue Jan 19, 2021 2:14 pmYour Chesterfield exodus is confirmed.DrTom wrote: ↑Tue Jan 19, 2021 1:43 pm I believe I am off the couch (though Lord knows I should be on it!). Off the couch thanks to a wee bit of guidance -- not a nudge, just guidance --- and a lot of combing through the pile of letters. I loved the clue at 5A.

Great meta! Even after being guided toward the mechanism, it took some time to work out. Brilliant! Still liking 67A.

Off the couch. Big universe to work within, but at least Al provided a Hitchhiker's Guide. All the pieces do come together in the end.
